Future has officially tossed in his name into the race for 2020's rap battle royale after announcing that his 8th studio album High Off Life is dropping Friday (May 15).
Initially thought to be titled Life Is Good, High Off Life will consist of 21 tracks with features from Drake, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and more. Future's longtime collaborator, DJ Esco, will executive produce his upcoming effort. He famously linked up with the Dirty Sprite star on his 2015 opus 56 Nights.
The rumors were true. Future's eighth studio album, High Off Life, is set to drop in several days.
Epic Records formally announced the impending release Tuesday, after Lonzo Ball posted an Instagram story of the project's tracklist. As you can see below, High Off Life spans 22 cuts, and features guest appearances by Drake, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, DaBaby, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Meek Mill, and more.
For High Off Life, Future previously released tracks such as "Last Name," "100 Shooters," "Tycoon," Life Is Good" and "Life Is Good (Remix)" featured on the project. "Life Is Good" peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100. Future's last album Future Hndrxx Presents: The Wizrd dropped last year and topped the Billboard 200.
In a previous interview with XXL, Future spoke on High Off Life's inspiration. "Going to the next level where you just going to the next level and always going outside the box, but still remaining true to my core fans and my core audience," Future explained.
"It's me trying new things. I want to remain true to self, but also true to my fans and just giving them a good project, a great project to be able to listen to, but also for different artists to be able to feed off of, create off of, come up with different ideas and just being at the forefront of just making a solid album, a solid, complete album. It's just very important to me."
playing it. None of my friends are playing it ... But let's really get into this, how many classic projects does he have? Honestly, 'cause people be saying he's top five. Future put out nine projects in a row that's all hits. Dirty Sprite 2 is one of the best albums ever. 56 Nights one of the best mixtapes ever."
Even though the world as we knew it turned to shit, music has been pretty good. So, there's that. COVID-19 may have ruined most of our major travel or festival plans this year, but Future is coming through to remind us that life isn't all that bad.
The Atlanta rapper announced his new album High Off Life, which will be released at the end of the week. The album is set to feature Drake, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, Young Thug, and more. As we wait to hear his latest masterpiece (fingers crossed!), the rapper has just unveiled the cover art.
The black-and-white artwork shows Future having a grand ole' time, throwing his hands in the air and letting his jacket flow in the wind. The background is foggy but a triplet of baddies can be seen behind him.
High Off Life sounds like it can potentially be one of Future's better recent albums. The people have been craving another classic from him. Do you think he can deliver?
